The Men and Family Centre are starting two courses in the New Year.

Loss & Grief is an experiential 10 week course for men interested in exploring their experiences of grief and loss. This can affect many areas of men’s lives – including death of loved ones, the loss of family, loss of health, relationships, home, employment, and the loss of the closeness, support, identity, or meaning that can go with them.

The group provides a safe and respectful environment for men to identify and explore the impact of loss and grief on their lives and to discover and share positive ways of rebuilding.

The course is on Thursdays from February 6th to April 10th 2014, 6.30pm – 9.30pm at the Men & Family Centre, 1 Club Lane, Lismore.

Taking The First Steps is a closed program designed specifically for male adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The program, run in conjunction with Heartfelt House, goes for 18 weeks as a 3 hour session one evening per week.

The program:-

  • explores the core issues surrounding the abuse
  • creates awareness
  • provides information
  • explores thoughts, behaviours and related feelings to the trauma of the sexual abuse in the past and how it influences participants’ lives today
  • reduces isolation
  • encourages healthy coping strategies

The six participants are attended by a team of two qualified facilitators. The fee of $225 per person includes course materials.

Places are still available for both courses. For further information and to confirm a place in the group , contact the Men and Family Centre on 02 66 226116 (9 am to 1 pm, Monday to Wednesday) or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
